zaKhm har jaa lagaaye jaate haiN
May 8th, 2006 Posted in Self, Urdu PoetryI wrote this Ghazal sometime in February 2005. The second couplet is my favourite. I am also writing the meaning of difficult Urdu words, just in case.
———
zaKhm har jaa lagaaye jaate haiN
ahl-e-dil yuuN sajaaye jaate haiN
(har jaa : everywhere; ahl-e-dil : people with a heart)
hamne KhvaaboN kaa bojh Dhoyaa hai
ham azaaboN meN paaye jaate haiN
(Khvaab : dream; azaab : punishment)
ham, ke aajiz hasiin chehroN se
aap dil meN samaaye jaate hain !
(aajiz : fed up; hasiin : beautiful)
kyuN tirii aarzuu meN jiite haiN ??
kyuN sitam Khud pe dhaaye jaate hain ??
(aarzuu : desire; sitam : infliction)
vo hii hamse judaa nahiiN hote
ham to kab se bhulaaye jaate haiN
(judaa : separate)

Bahut khoob, Mohib !
The second one is indeed the most original, but I liked the maqta as well, it is traditional, but the words are very harmonious.
A very personal view, of course.
Do write more- you write so well ! And please don’t change the URL now, I almost lost you.

Wow, Mohib!
I loved each and every sher in this ghazal, and I really mean it!
You should write more often.

bahut shukriyaa, Bhupinder saahab !
Writing is spontaneous. At times, I have forced myself to write and it never came out good. I really want to write a new Ghazal, let us hope it is sooner than later.
I am sorry for changing my blog URL so often, this one is going to be available for some time at least.
Zoya ji,
Thank you so much. I would try to write more.
