WordPress 2.0.4

by Mohib on July 28, 2006

Dear WP Users,

WordPress has released an upgraded version 2.0.4 of their software with a lot of bug fixes (probably a result of 4th July bug-hunt). You can download the latest version at http://wordpress.org/download.

Happy Blogging!

“Upgrading is fairly simple, just overwrite your old files with the latest from the download.”

this will overwrite all modifications to existing files, right???

I don’t think one makes any modifications in the files to be overwritten. I believe that you would have made changes in one the templates and unless they are the classic or default WP templates, it wouldn’t really matter. If you are using either of these, then please save your modified files first and then update.

And yes, I don’t like this WP thing of overwriting files for each update.

It really depends, if you are using either of the themes shipped with wordpress, ie default and original, then you don’t want to overwrite the theme, do you? I upgraded by overwriting everything but the wp-config file and my wp-content directory.

i totally agree, it would be nice with another upgrade method, like patch/diff files,

and i can’t seem to find a changelog for 2.0.4 :(
