BBC News has this article written by a young Indian soldier stationed in Kashmir where he talks about a system that has gone horribly wrong. A must read.

And then something like this happens, and there are villagers and more villagers protesting on the street, asking for freedom from this kind of oppression.

Obviously they will protest. Anybody would.

Even if there is no solution in sight one cannot just go and pick up people from the street and kill them. And if they do this there will be never be any solution.

Sunil Mahato, the Jharkhan Mukti Morcha MP from Jamshedpur, was shot dead by Naxalites.

Sunil Mahato of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha was killed while watching a football match in Jharkhand, which has been the scene of a Maoist insurgency. Two security guards and a party leader were also killed in the shoot out.

A day later they stuck in Andhra Pradesh killing a Congress leader. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has described the growing Naxal menace as “the single biggest threat to country’s security”.  However, we don’t see many people unduly concerned by it. Is it because ‘all Muslims are not terrorist but all terrorist are Muslims’ the ‘in-thing’ in India and consequently gets much more coverage than it actually deserves?

The problem is that he is claiming responsibility for somebody else. And that is not the only problem.

Times of India reports:

A youth was arrested in New Delhi on Wednesday for allegedly sending an e-mail to a Hindi daily posing as the Students Islamic Movement of India chief in Madhya Pradesh besides claiming responsibility for the Mumbai serial blasts, a senior police official said.

Ninteen-year-old Sumit Tamrakar, a resident of Chola area in New Delhi, was arrested within 48 hours of sending an e-mail to the newspaper’s suggestion box on July 16 in which he identified himself as SIMI’s state chief, Inspector General of police Sanjeev Singh said in New Delhi.
